Unlocking Consistency: The power of Style Guides! This article covers the importance of a detailed and well thought out Style Guide.

Style Guide Overview

  • A Style Guide serves as an indispensable tool for maintaining consistency and accuracy in your translations. It provides translators with detailed instructions, offering a structured approach to effectively convey your message to diverse audiences.
  • When combined with a glossary and translation memory, its influence on translation quality becomes paramount. Crafting a comprehensive guide entails defining key characteristics that embody your brand identity and communication style. Depending on your translation requirements, you may develop multiple style guides, each tailored to distinct content types such as marketing texts or product descriptions.

Why is a Style Guide important?

  • A Style Guide encapsulates how you wish to resonate with global audiences, reflecting the fundamental aspects of your brand identity. It acts as a guiding beacon for translators, enabling them to grasp your company's persona and communication ethos accurately.
  • It allows you to define things such as tone-of-voice and the target audience for the text. This helps the translators decide on the best translations to suit your preferences.

Implementing Style Guides in your translation requests

  • For every translation request, you'll assign a specific Style Guide when you select and set up your preferences for the translation request.
  • Please Note: If you do not assign a Style Guide, the Default Style Guide will automatically be attached to any new translation request or order that you place.
  • This guide comprises rules, instructions, and specifications that you stipulate and assign to your translation orders.
  • These guidelines are readily accessible to translators, providing clear directives to uphold your quality benchmarks.
  • Selecting the appropriate guide is paramount, particularly when multiple guides cater to distinct content categories like marketing or product descriptions
  • Additionally, you can customise requirements for individual languages within orders featuring multiple languages, if you should need to do so.
